What have the Tories got to hide from the people of Wales?

Welsh Tories have been challenged to make public a secret report commissioned by David Cameron on devolution for Wales.Lesley Griffiths

Wrexham's Welsh Labour AM, Lesley Griffiths was commenting following news that Lord Roberts of Conwy had completed his report on Welsh devolution, ordered by Tory Leader David Cameron at this year's Welsh Tory Conference in Llandudno. The report - in Cameron's own words - was intended to offer the Tories with "a full overview of the possibilities" on devolution.

Commenting following confirmation the Roberts Report had been completed, Lesley Griffiths has now called on Welsh Tories to publicly reveal Lord Roberts' conclusions:

Wrexham's Welsh Labour AM, LESLEY GRIFFITHS said:

"The Tories have done enough ducking and diving over devolution. Back in March of this year, David Cameron announced that Lord Roberts would supposedly look at making devolution work better for Wales. That process is now over - so let the Welsh people see for themselves how the Tories propose to do that.

"Twelve months ago, Welsh Labour agreed by an overwhelming majority at its special conference in Cardiff, to establish the All Wales Convention to look into the possibility of holding a referendum on law-making powers for the National Assembly. We are delivering on our promises to the people of Wales in an open and transparent way. The same cannot be said of David Cameron's Tory Party.

"The people of Wales now need to know precisely where the Tories stand on devolution and on the future governance of our country. The only way to do that is to make public the Roberts Report. If they fail do this, voters will draw their own conclusions about Tory secrecy.

"In Llandudno earlier this year, David Cameron promised to find the right resting place for his Party's policy on devolution. Perhaps now, he can tell us where he has buried it?"
