Welsh Labour's Education Minister Jane Hutt has today congratulated Welsh students on their examination success as A, AS Level and Welsh Baccalaureate Qualification results are published.
Jane Hutt said: "Today is a day for celebration for young people, their parents and their
teachers. Results for
A, AS and the Welsh Baccalaureate Advanced Diploma
published today give us all every reason to be proud of their achievements.
"A spectacular 97.6 percent of A level, and 88.5 percent of AS entries this year resulted in pass grades; both slightly above the overall pass rate for all UK entries
"Entries for A and AS levels rose again this year and the number of young people entering the Welsh Baccalaureate continues to increase.
"As the Welsh Baccalaureate Qualification continues to become a key feature of education and training in Wales, it is wonderful to see the increasing numbers of students completing and achieving this ground-breaking qualification.
"These results, alongside successes in Vocational Qualifications celebrated last month, ensure that our young people are well placed to continue their education and training in University, College or the work place. I wish them all every success in their future careers and learning."
