FLINTSHIRE Labour will make every school in the county an excellent school if it wins the council election in May, it promised today.
Labour Flintshire council leader Aaron Shotton will be joined by Communities and Local Government Secretary Hazel Blears as they meet local parents at Mold market to discuss their hopes for the future of their children.
They promised to invest £19m in school buildings over the next four years and to deliver two new special schools for the county. They also said that the £650,000 extra invested in education by Labour in Flintshire would mean more resources for teachers and children.
HAZEL BLEARS said:
"There is nothing more important to Labour than the future of our kids, which is why I am so pleased that if Labour wins the council election in Flintshire it will make every school in the area an excellent school.
"I want to talk to local families, mums and dads and youngsters, to see what they think their schools do really well and what they think could be improved. I want them to tell us what they would like to see delivered in Flintshire over the coming years.
"What I can promise is world-class schools here in Flintshire with Labour."
AARON SHOTTON said:
"I have been really pleased at the response I have received from parents and headteachers, to our announcement that we would invest an additional £650,000 into education in Flintshire this year.
"But investment in education is not about short-term measures. It is about securing the future of our children over the long term, which is why if we win the election in May we will invest £19m into our school buildings to improve the educational experience for all our children.
"No child will be left behind with Labour, which is why we will deliver a £9.7m package to build two new special schools in the county.
"We are on the side of our hardworking parents and children."
